“We examined peculiar objects that the family had found in their field. Among the items was a ring made of a light, silver-coloured metal with a red glass-like stone set into it. We turned the ring in our hands. On the outside were folk-style ornaments, and inside an engraving “1914.” The year felt distant. It pointed to a time long before their field existed, before the family had settled in the area.

This family has its own time-bound story of settling in this area. I have my own, and in addition there is the story of the ring and its unknown owner. I felt fascinated by how these lives layer themselves onto the same landscape, leaving remnants of stories fading over time.”
